Searching for a fix

Seriously – how on earth did it take me this long to try yoga. I’m a pretty with it guy. I’m not afraid of Indian culture. I saw Monsoon Wedding. I worship India Quality in Kenmore Sq. I’d shop at the Quickie Mart if I could. Gandhi was kind of awesome. But yoga did evade me. Was it my irrational fear of yoga mats?

Anyway, I love a good body high more than the average person. And yoga hits you with one, let me tell you. And I’m doing Bikram Yoga, which is 105 degree yoga. And this morning I only almost passed out once! (fricken camel pose) As much as I love the obnoxious narcissism of weight training and the intellectual stimulation of an elliptical trainer mixed with the “Club TV” music video network…  this was out there waiting for me and I accept.

So pass the Smart Water life, what else you got?

(And it was a little odd waking up early on a Sunday to be somewhere at 9am, and not have that place be a restaurant job, perhaps even one where I was once written up for properly articulating why I disliked working brunch. Although we did have lots of very cool brunch regulars – but seriously you ever had to fill ketchup bottles?)

  1. So why did it take you so long to discover yoga? and what finally triggered your conversion?

The irony is that, despite all your space-saving efforts, yoga is one of the few things that you can’t do in your apartment. Or do you have a solution to that??
