Hiatus

Well I’ve been sick for 5 days and am just coming out of it’s tunnel around tomorrow I suspect. Amazing how being sick is so damn unproductive, almost like an out of body experience, a really annoying non profound kind. Anyway I’m back, please hold your applause until I can hear it.

Today, finally, after years and years of ranting about how much I dislike them…. I have opened an account at a bank that is “big”. Not an account at a bank that has been eaten up by a bigger bank, like all banks are sure to encounter, but one of the banks that eats other banks… a predator bank. There is some logic behind this move, logic that makes it seem a little less totally against everything I stand for, besides old ladies on the T anyway… but it’s still strange. I even explained to my “Personal Banker” today why I hate Big Banks, mainly because they like to charge you for using their bank it seems, when banks in fact make their money off of your money, which they should be happy to have you leaving with them in the meantime. He seemed to understand, but I’m sure didn’t quite subscribe. I did have to think, how bad can a Big Bank be that gets Steelcase desk chairs for it’s employees? Anyway now I get rewards points for using my debit card, since I won’t be using my credit cards anymore if possible…  and I also get a bank which is a little more convenient to get to, and is one of the largest banks in NYC, which will be very convenient next year, provided I do move there.

Also, last weekend I went to a Meditation training retreat of sorts at the Boston Shambhala Center, meditation being something I am determined to adopt and utilize in the quality development of my mind as a more useful element in my life. 10,000 years of practice and development is simply too daunting to ignore. And George W. Bush does not meditate, and so we all should – so we never act like him, that stupid rhetoric monkey. Anyway if you are interested they are doing a one day intro/explanation of meditation on Feb 17th from 9:30-5 (its a Sat) and you should go if you’re interested.

Next week, I think I’m starting Yoga.
