Sept 12th
I just saw Munich here at home by myself. Man does it make you feel just dirty, and left asking hard questions about how we react to our world. A brilliant and provactive work. And I wonder, as I have wondered before, whether any vengeance is ever just. Violence begets violence, until someone decides to stop and absorb the blow. I think of a civil rights marcher, taking a beating but barely flinching, perhaps because he knows what it is to be truly just. I think of him and I wonder where he is and what must he think of the rest of us now. I fear if we are not careful our world will rip itself apart, and if we’re really not careful we’ll come to realize it was infact us who did the ripping. Attention must be paid.

No More Mistake
Well, I finally need my cell for business as I head to trade shows for the next 4 days, and what that means for Chas Danner fans everywhere is that my voicemail message has been changed. It was for more than a year, this, which was actually a mistake, much like we all probably make as we record a series of voicemail or answering machine messages until we get one we like. Well I F-ed it up, then laughed at it and thought, I’ll just leave it at its non-self conscious best. The amount of voicemails I ended up getting that started with a compliment of the message was alarming. My friend Jimmey particularly loved it and complimented me probably 50 times, telling me I should never change it. My dad, for several messages, could not figure out what I was saying, even after I had thought I explained it to him, which was sort of hilarious: “Dad, I told you already, it’s a mistake…it’s a JOKE” to a man who answers every phone he ever answers with the same terse “BILL DANNER.” which was legendary when I was teenager of course. Anyway, it saddens me to lame out like this, but I can’t have potential accounts wondering if I’m totally insane. But I also don’t think I can ever do it again, as to purposely use a mistake would sort of ruin the non-contentious spontaneity of the original idea. Alas…
